Why you are not supporting it?
i have vonage phone number and i am willing to port it to acanac,
can you please explain for me why you can not do it anymore?

is any way i can do it by myself like contacting the company and have the release in my hand then give it to you or any voip provider?

please advise. as this is very important for me and couple of friends who are planing to move to acanac but they need number porting.

Hi,

When we are looking at the Acanac website to research your service before placing an order, it would be nice if this fact - that you don't provide number porting - were mentioned somewhere clearly, for example, in the Residential Service FAQ at acanac.ca/res-faq.htm

If this were made clear there (or somewhere else on that website), it would help us make an informed decision, and not be surprised later. It's possible that I missed this if it is already on your website somewhere (not hidden among fine print though).

Thanks,
Ritu - a recent, somewhat happy Acanac customer

According to the CRTC website:

"VoIP is a technology, not a service. The same number portability rules apply to service providers using VoIP technology as other telephone service providers. Therefore, customers are free to take their telephone numbers with them when switching between VoIP, traditional phone line companies or wireless service providers."

Hi,
It's been almost one year and half since I am an ACANAC customer and I always since the beginning to have the voip service also but the biggest problem for me was ans still is the portability of my actual number it's very crucial for me, so I never applied for this service I preferred rather paying $26.xx with Bell having an analogic telephone than loosing my actual number.

I am really sure that many folks out there are in the same situation as I am.

I hope that Acanac people will do something about that.

Thanks

Youcef

I would pay extra $$ to port my existing number to Acanac as well. Having my existing number is important to me. Seems like it may make business-sense (eventually) for management to look further into this opportunity. ;)

Anyone else in the same boat?

Would you guys not even port a number, even if we provide the reservation number from Bell or other providers?

Hello

Is it possible to port an acanac assigned number out to a different voip provider ?

I believe the number is capable of being ported out, but will acanac allow it ?

I referred my friend and she said she reaches the 50 call limit towards the end of the month sometimes and wanted to know about other options. She's had the number for a year now and doesn't want to change numbers.

thanks, Lydia

Still no porting eh? Cuz I could get about ten people on this by tomorrow if you started doing this again.

I guess the question is, will Acanac ever support number porting, is it something that is in the works, can customers expect it in the near future ?

It would be a HUGE bonus, I would switch phone service in a second, as would many others.

Where does Acanac stand on this, we already know it is not supported right now, but what about tomorrow ;)
