As of today we will no longer keep any logs on the tunnel servers. What does this mean to you? For starters anonymous browsing, Encrypted connection.

Could this anonymous SSH Tunnel also be used to post on these forums anonymously (with a new email of coarse) and the users still get away with it? Since its un-logged I guess so and Acanac doesn't mind this possible side effect? You guys must really care about the customer, its nice to see a company that remembers the customer sometimes ! I seem to think some of those DSLReports reviews of Acanac is somewhat manipulated Good thing I'll be a customer soon and be able to help fix that!

Quote: Could this anonymous SSH Tunnel also be used to post on these forums anonymously (with a new email of coarse) and the users still get away with it? Not really, the tunnel will only work from an Acanac IP, using a tunnel client which reguires the users DSL username and Password. So it would show the IP as Acanac's in the Post. Not hard to correct if it did present a problem.

I would not be concerned of clients using the tunnel for this purpose. Worst case we can just ban the user name. Also most spammers are just to lazy to register with a different email address if they are banned. The benifits far out way any of the draw backs. With the DPI from Bell who really knows what they are doing. I would also recommend using encryption to protect your data on your own computer. A good program is http://www.truecrypt.org/I take no responsibility for data loss.

Paul I don't mean to be ignorant but... Why would logs be kept anyway? I mean doesn't no logging actually mean better, more effective service for you? I mean less hard drives, less cpu cycles and writes to a hard drive... Like why did you log it to begin with? Was it for debugging or... ? ... I dunno that's why I'm asking.

Having logs does make it allot easier to keep track of spammers and other abusers of our terms of service. It just means we will have to catch them in real time. This is what the NOC is far anyway. Give them some extra work:)

Quote: Prohibited Uses * Unlawful Would "piracy" fall into that category? From what I've heard, its not even against any laws in Canada. Maybe a civil law, if you are distributing and agreed to the not distribute. But is that "Unlawful" ? But even then. How could Acanac know anyway, since it could be accessing products customers have already purchased, through a different means. I guess I could have just answered this question all on my own.
